Founded in Wollongong in 2021, Hysata is commercialising an ultra-efficient capillary fed alkaline electrolyser to deliver the lowest-cost green hydrogen. This breakthrough technology supports decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors such as steel, chemicals and heavy transport. Recognised by TIME and Statista as being among the world’s Top GreenTech companies, Hysata employs over 110 people
in Wollongong.
As at 16 June 2026, CEO Paul Barrett announced that "Hysata has signed its first binding MW-scale order with a global heavy-industry leader. This is a key milestone for the company, and undeniable evidence that in a market where economics and execution matter most, customers are backing differentiated technology like ours."
In 2024, they raised US$111.3M in Australia’s largest-ever Series B clean tech funding to expand its Wollongong facility and scale production. Hysata also recently secured collaboration agreements with ACWA Power and POSCO Holdings, cementing its role in the global shift to green hydrogen.
